Flower Candles: Floral-Inspired Soy Wax Designs Explained
What flower candles are at Maison de Lumière, hand poured soy wax candles shaped like flowers, never real or dried flowers embedded in wax.
Flower candles are a lovely way to bring a floral mood into a room, and it is worth being clear from the start about what that means at Maison de Lumière. Every flower candle and floral candle we make is a hand poured soy wax candle shaped and coloured to suggest a flower, never a real or dried flower embedded in wax. The forms, the petals and the colouring are all created by hand in the candle itself, so what you are buying is a candle that looks like a flower, not a flower preserved inside one.
This distinction matters because it changes what you can expect from the piece. A flower candle from Maison de Lumière can be burned, displayed and handled in a way a preserved botanical never could, because there is no real plant material inside it to degrade or discolour over time. What you get instead is a soy wax form, coloured in beige, sage green, pink, purple, blue or another shade by request, that reads as floral from across a room and should be kept away from heat and direct sunlight when displayed.
The clearest example in our range is the Small Tulip, formed as small wax tulips rather than fresh flower stems. Grouped together, they read as a miniature bouquet on a tray or in a shallow dish, and because they are wax rather than fresh flowers, the arrangement looks the same in January as it does in June. The Lotus works in a similar spirit but with a single, more symmetrical form, closer to an ornament than a bouquet, and suits a spot where you want one considered floral inspired piece rather than a cluster.
For weddings and events, the small flower favour, at £2.50 each, brings the same floral inspired idea to a table setting or a gift bag in miniature. It sits within our wider favour range, alongside the small bubble cube at £2.50, the moon baby at £4, the angel at £5, the love bear at £5, the sleeping baby at £5.50 and the swan at £8, with the whole favour range subject to a minimum order of twenty pieces. The small flower works particularly well when a couple wants a soft, botanical note running through the day without any of the planning that comes with fresh flowers, since wax favours are made well in advance and do not depend on same day delivery.
The largest expression of this floral inspired idea is our bespoke candle bouquets. These are arrangements of handmade soy wax candle forms, built to order and designed to be given or displayed as a botanical inspired centrepiece, and the floral candle forms themselves are wax, with no real or dried flowers embedded inside them. Wrapping, ribbons, pots and any decorative finishing are separate from the candles. Remove each candle from the arrangement and take off all packaging and decorative material before burning it on a separate stable, heat-resistant holder. The Classic bouquet, with fifteen candles, is £55. The Signature, with twenty candles, is £65. The Grande, with thirty candles, is £75, and anything more elaborate, from thirty five candles upward, is quoted individually once we understand what you have in mind. All bespoke bouquets are made to order, usually prepared within 2–3 working days; allow up to 5 working days before dispatch, then 3–5 working days for standard UK delivery. For date-critical or peak-season orders, confirm your required date before ordering.
For a bouquet with a more finished, gift ready presentation, the Premium Bespoke Bouquet comes with a handmade gypsum pot at £110, giving the arrangement a proper vessel rather than loose stems. The New Home Candle with Handmade Pot, at £80, offers a similarly finished presentation for a housewarming gift.
If you are drawn to the idea of a flower candle but are not sure which format suits the occasion, from a single Lotus to a full bespoke bouquet, it helps to see the range and talk through sizing before committing. Visit the bespoke candle bouquets page to start planning yours.
